What are your favorite memories of Elementary School? Besides special teachers who made learning fun, what stands out in your mind? Class parties? Field trips? School-wide special events? Don't you want your child to enjoy the same fun experiences

You can make sure these and many other exciting activities are included on the school calendar by joining and being active in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Southwick School!

The PTO is a group of parents, just like you, who want to be involved in their children's elementary school experience. Headed by a volunteer Board of Officers, led by Co-Presidents, Stephanie Hurley and Kim Beck, the members of the PTO work with teachers and school administrators to enhance the school's programs and learning environment.

We do this by organizing a number of fundraising events throughout the school year. These include the Midland Fall Fundraiser, Holiday Make & Take, Family Movie Nights, artist in residence programs, and many other activities. The whole community is invited to participate, not just those affiliated with the school. The money raised at these events enables the administration to buy additional items and equipment for our kids to use as part of their educational experience at Southwick. In the past, the PTO raised funds the school has used to purchase classroom materials for teachers, snow shoes for PE class, new playground equipment, our school popcorn machine, and so much more.

The PTO also enhances the school in many ways that don't involve raising money. We are classroom parents, field trip chaperones, volunteers who plan and manage school events!

We want ALL parents to share the Southwick School experience with their children! Everyone has talents we can use and fresh ideas that will benefit the school and the students. We meet on the first WEDNESDAY of every month at Southwick School from 6:00 to 7:00 pm (We even have Googlemeet if you can’t make it in person!)

It's easy to join the PTO. Stop by our table at Open Houses, Speak with your child's classroom teacher, or ask in the school's front office! You can also email us at ss.pto@wrsdsau59.org or reach us through the PTO page on the school’s website. Send us your contact information so that we can sign you up to be notified about all upcoming events and needs for volunteers. OR just stop by a meeting!
