In second grade we are using a reading program called Wonders. It pairs fiction and nonfiction stories and has a strong emphasis on all five areas of reading; phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency. We also supplement with related trade books.

We use the John Collins writing program, and it is integrated into the literacy program as well as all areas of our curriculum.

Second grade uses elements of the Go Math and Eureka math programs to meet our district competencies. In Social Studies and Science, we are working to implement Project Based
